Edith Stuyvesant Dresser Vanderbilt was the wife of George Washington Vanderbilt (married in 1898), and together they owned the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C. designed by Richard Morris Hunt,  I recently visited there and it is beautiful!  The painting is still at Biltmore, which is the largest private residence in the United States.

Edith later married Peter Goelet Gerry, a senator from Rhode Island.
