 . .  notice how you can see, in the  photo of this painting [at left], Franca Florio's skirt is longer than in the other portrait [in color] and the dress is not the same, it seems to me. This is because this is the second version of the portrait. As a matter of fact,  Ignazio Florio (Franca's husband)  considered the first portrait too sensual and provocative and  he wanted that Boldini make the skirt longer..
 

(Editor's Note - I wonder if the image in the photo is flipped when it went to print in the book -- meaning, I wonder if in the black and white image she is suppose to be looking over her right shoulder like the other painting?)
