For the
moment, I send to you only the portrait of Catarina Vlasto as a child.
Nicole and Tony don't know who the painter is.
They wrote to me
Pour le portrait de Caterina,
bien sur qu'on vous autorise a partager tout ce que voulez avec New
York! Vous avez vraiment du courage et quel talent sur
internet....!
je suis bien jalouse! On a trouve parmi nos papiers la "probate
valuation" faite apres le deces de Erato et la vente de la maison de
famille a Ascot. Vous allez sourire quand [par Sargent] vous
apprendrez que la
valeur du grand portrait etait £150 a l'epoque....!
Le peintre de la petire
Caterina est inconnu. Il y a peut etre une
signature en bas du portrait mais il nous faudrait enlever le cadre et
on prefere ne pas le toucher.

translation
. . . One finds
among our papers the "probate valuation" made after the death of Erato
and the sale of the house of the family at Ascot. You will smile when
you learn that the value of the large portrait [by Sargent] went for
£150 at the time....! The painter of the little Caterina is
unknown. There might be a signature at the bottom of the portrait but
we would have to remove the framework and would prefer not to touch.
